Walk & Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy takes our sessions outdoors. By combining gentle physical movement with professional counselling, we untangle your thoughts while physically moving forward.

Why Choose Walk & Talk?

For international adults and expats, taking counselling outside offers a unique set of benefits:

  • A Literal Change of Perspective: When you are adjusting to a new culture or life transition, your brain is constantly on high alert. Being in nature can help lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and help soothe your nervous system, making it easier to process complex emotions.

  • A More Natural Conversation: Sitting eye-to-eye in a room can sometimes feel intense or intimidating. Walking side-by-side naturally lowers your guard, allowing conversation to flow more freely and comfortably.

  • Grounding Yourself in Your New Home: Exploring local green spaces can help you feel more connected to the environment and the city you now live in. It helps turn an unfamiliar place into a source of comfort and healing.

  • Mind and Body Integration: Physical movement helps release trapped tension. As your feet move forward, your mind often follows, helping you break through mental loops and feel more energised.

Sometimes, the best way to process a major life transition isn't by sitting still - it's by taking it one step at a time, literally.

What do I need to know?

Where We Meet

We will agree on a quiet, easily accessible park or nature path beforehand. I have chosen some risk-assessed routes in and around Geneva that offer a good balance of natural beauty, level walking paths, and quiet places to pause.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Your privacy remains my top priority.

  • We will establish a "bump-in protocol" before we start: what we will do if we run into someone you or I know.

Pace & Fitness

This is not a workout. The pace is entirely set by you - whether that is a brisk walk, a gentle stroll, or sitting on a bench overlooking the water. We move at whatever speed allows you to breathe and speak comfortably.

Weather & What to Wear

Comfort is key. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking and dressing in layers appropriate for the day's forecast.

A light drizzle won't stop us if you are up for it! However, if the weather is truly miserable or unsafe, we will easily transition our session to an online video call or a traditional indoor session if possible.

ConneCT

When you are navigating life in a new country, it is easy to feel untethered. Your routines are different, your support network might be thousands of miles away, and even simple daily tasks can feel exhausting. Sitting in a traditional therapy room can sometimes feel just as restricting as the mental blocks you are trying to work through.
